Skrill Abandons Canadian Gambling
Skrill (former Moneybookers), one of the largest payment processors, ceased conducting transactions for Canadian gamblers. The information has been initially published on the 2+2 poker player forum by Benjamin Salskaya. In a letter he received from Skrill officials it was indicated that the payments from vendors are no longer accepted. According to the report, the company arrived at the decision as a result of a ‘global review of its activities’, with no details provided.
The company’s escape from Canada preceded a strange scene, played recently at Titan Poker room, who warned their Canadian players it had planned to terminate financial operations in 30 days. In other words, it had to be the next day after the scheduled transfer of Ladbrokes iPoker room to MPN network. Though, a couple of days later Titan announced the good news for Canadian users through its official Twitter account. It turned out they still could to play, deposit and withdraw money and earn real cash. Moreover, the players were offered bonuses to encourage them to stay in the ‘indecisive’ room, a part of iPoker network.
The cause of this confusion is nothing but a mystery. Thus, no amendments in gambling legislation were introduced and there were no prerequisites for global, radical actions. This way or the other, the giant has confirmed the initiative, though the motivation remained unclear.
